Update from July 2012: Resignation = done!

I am very pleased and proud to say that I have done it, I have quit office life! Now the real adventure begins! Lots of random projects to work on but the basic concept of making time for real living remains at the centre of everything I do. I’m creating a Post Office section to update you on the challenges of not working in an office (there are some as I’m finding out) and some of the great stuff you can do.

The steps I took and am detailing in this blog are the ones I took and they led me to where I am today. You are welcome to try them out and ask any questions, I do not pretend to have all the answers, I just know all the things I tried and what worked for me.

Progress chart towards resignation

Below is a progress chart on the key areas I had identified through my wheel of life as needing improvement if I ever wanted to leave an office job confidently and successfully in this tough economic environment:

    • Thanks Fred! The money… if only we lived in a world where it was not needed, would we all be happier? I saved up some money before resigning, and then cut costs massively by moving in with the in-laws. Thus reducing the pressure to earn money straight away. What is quite amazing is the shift in mentality from office worker where you do not care that much to self employed where you really focus on making a difference daily.
